Mientras la atención mundial se centra en el Mar Rojo, más precisamente en los recientes ataques de los Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido contra los rebeldes hutíes, Rusia no se queda quieta. Casi como una respuesta a la visita a Kiev del primer ministro británico, hoy sábado por la mañana, tiempo local, los rusos lanzaron un poderoso ataque aéreo con bombarderos de varios tipos y misiles de diferentes tipos.
Los ucranianos se preparan para tomar una actitud más defensiva, creando líneas fortificadas constituidas por obstáculos antitanques (dientes de dragón), alambres de púas, trincheras y algunos campos minados. Mientras esto sucede, los rusos concentran tropas en el norte, como queriendo abrir un nuevo frente, desde donde podrían golpear algunas líneas de defensa ucranianas por detrás.
Con una gran escasez de personal los ucranianos acaban de encargar 50.000 uniformes para mujeres. Posiblemente sean ellas las que deban ocupar buena parte de las líneas fortificadas que los están construyendo las unidades de ingenieros ucranianas. Con los EEUU proveyendo ya poca o ninguna ayuda a Zelensky, con el Reino Unido haciendo promesas difíciles de cumplir en el corto y mediano plazo y con Europa que ya agotó buena parte de sus fondos, los ucranianos tienen pocas posibilidades de resistir. La lógica indica que es momento de sentarse a negociar, pero Kiev, al menos Zelensky, no lo entienden así. Lo peor todavía podría estar por venir.
MASSIVE RUSSIAN AIR ATTACK - UKRAINE GOES ON THE DEFENSIVE
While the world attention is focused on the Red Sea, more precisely on the recent attacks by the United States and the United Kingdom against the Houthi rebels, Russia is not standing still. Almost as a response to the British prime minister's visit to Kiev, today, Saturday morning (local time), the Russians launched a powerful air attack with bombers of various types and drones and different sorts of missiles.
The Ukrainians are preparing to take a more defensive attitude, creating fortified defense lines constituted by dragon's teeth, barbed wires, trenches and some minefields. While this is happening, the Russians are concentrating troops in the north of the country, towards the north of Ukraine, ready to open a new front that could hit some Ukrainian defense lines from behind.
With a serious shortage of manpower, the Ukrainians have just ordered 50,000 uniforms for women. They are probably the ones who should fill a good part of the fortified lines that the Ukrainians are building. With the US already providing little or no aid to Zelensky, with the UK making promises that are not all realizable in the short and medium term, and with an exhausted Europe, Ukrainians have little chance of resisting. Logic indicates that it is time to sit down and negotiate, but Kiev, at least Zelensky, do not understand it that way. The worst could still be to come.
